Agoraphobia (fear of public places)
Agoraphobia is an anxiety disorder characterized by the fear of being in places or situations from which escape might be difficult or embarrassing, or in which help may not be available in the event of having a Panic Attack. Symptoms of agoraphobia include:
- Pervasive fear of a variety of situations including:
- Being alone outside the home
- Being home alone
- Being in a crowd of people
- Traveling in an automobile, bus, or airplane
- Being on a bridge or in an elevator
- Considerable dread or avoidance of feared situations
