Anorexia

Anorexia is an eating disorder characterized by an individual's refusal to maintain a minimally normal body weight. Symptoms of anorexia include:
  • Maintenance of a body weight below a minimally normal level
  • Intense fear of gaining weight or becoming fat
  • Significant disturbance in the perception of body shape or size
  • Reduction in total food intake
  • Self-induced vomiting or the misuse of laxatives or diuretics
  • Increased or excessive exercise
