Anorexia
Anorexia is an eating disorder characterized by an individual's refusal to
maintain a minimally normal body weight. Symptoms of anorexia include:
- Maintenance of a body weight below a minimally normal level
- Intense fear of gaining weight or becoming fat
- Significant disturbance in the perception of body shape or size
- Reduction in total food intake
- Self-induced vomiting or the misuse of laxatives or diuretics
- Increased or excessive exercise
