Dysthymic disorder (chronic depression)

Dysthymic disorder (chronic depression) is a mood disorder characterized by prolonged periods of two years or longer in which an individual feels sad, depressed, or "down in the dumps" nearly everyday. Symptoms of dysthymia include:
  • Poor appetite or overeating
  • Insomnia or hypersomnia
  • Low energy or fatigue
  • Low self-esteem or self criticism
  • Poor concentration or difficulty making decisions
  • Loss of interest
