Intermittent explosive disorder (anger)
Intermittent explosive disorder is an impulse-control disorder characterized by the failure to resist aggressive impulses that result in serious assaultive acts or the destruction of property. Symptoms of intermittent explosive disorder include:
- Episodes of anger that are grossly out of proportion to the provocation
- Aggressive or destructive acts in the midst of anger, such as striking another person or breaking valuable objects
- Remorse, regret, or embarrassment resulting from aggressive or destructive episodes of anger
